Grafton- Ronald L. Hasbrouck Sr., 74,of Route 2 Grafton, died suddenly Thursday, June 22, 2006 at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Herbert Hasbrouck Jr. and Helen (Burgess) Hasbrouck and husband for 54 years of Malvina Durivage Hasbrouck.

He had resided the past 49 years in Grafton and was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1950.

Ron was an investigator for the Rensselaer County Public Defenders office for many years retiring 11 years ago, he also was a lineman for New York Telephone, Supervisor of Building and Grounds at Emma Willard School, Investigator for the State Liquor Authority and Captain for the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department.

He was a member of the Sea Bees in the Reserves, a Boy Scout leader, one of the founders of the Grafton Rescue Squad and Grafton Fire Department and the originator of the Dive Team for the fire company. He was active in community affairs and a member of the Grafton Planning Board, a former Republican Chairman for Grafton. He also was a member of the Hasbrouck Association in New Paltz. Ron enjoyed his machinery, hiking, camping and travel and especially loved his property.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Ronald L. Hasbrouck Jr. (Shirley) of Grafton and Herbert S. Hasbrouck (Maxine) of Grafton; two daughters, Suzanne M. Thurber (friend Dave Baker) of Speigletown and Robin M. Hasbrouck of Grafton; a brother, Alan H. Hasbrouck Sr. (Mary) of Grafton; five grandchildren, Jeremy Thurber, Ronald Richard Hasbrouck and Jonathan, Kimberly and Lance Hasbrouck, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Michael Gorchov, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 PM.

Interment Eagle Mills Cemetery in Eagle Mills.
