Robert W. Shake, Sr.

Troy - Robert  W. Shake Sr., 89, of Locust Avenue died Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Corona, NY, he was son of the late Russell M. Shake and Catherine Jeanette Hart Shake and husband for 65 years of Anne Marie Doocey Shake. He was raised in Long Island, and resided in Ellenville, NY before moving to Troy in 1946 and was Valedictorian at Ellenville High School, attended RPI and earned his Bachelors degree from Siena College. 

Bob was Director of Purchasing for Cluett, Peabody & Company in Troy for many years, retiring in 1985.  

He was an active Communicant and volunteer at Sacred Heart Church in Troy and a Eucharistic Minister. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. 

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Mary C. Shake, Lexington, KY and Joanne M. (Jeffrey) Jones, Matthews, NC; a daughter-in-law, Ellen A. Shake, Waxhaw, NC; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Doocey, Troy and 8 grandchildren, Kevin G. Shake, John Weiner, Malinda Shake, David Weiner, Eileen Becker, Amy Shake and Gabrielle and Olivia Jones.   He was predeceased by two sons, Robert W. Shake Jr. and James J. Shake and a daughter-in-law, Carmen H. Shake. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home and at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in  St. Agnes Cemetery Menands.
