Robert W. Poole, 77

Defreestville Robert W. Poole, 77, of Holland Drive, died Tuesday at his residence after a long illness.

Born in High Bridge, NJ he was son of the late Walter and Catheryn Richter Poole and husband of Marie Wilson Poole. He had resided in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Grafton and the past 31 years in Defreestville and attended Berlin and Grafton schools and Troy High School.

Mr. Poole was a Boiler Inspector for the New York State Department of Labor for 21 years retiring in 1985.

He was a 20 year Navy veteran serving during World War 2 and Korea. He was the 1000th member of the Troy Lodge of Elks and a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars in Rensselaer, the Grafton American Legion, the USS Slattery Club and a Past Master of Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge in Troy.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Robert W. Poole and wife Martha of Lisbon, CT; a sister Anita McCabe and husband Jack of Brunswick; two grandchildren David and Heather Poole both of Lisbon, CT and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00AM from Gardner Earl Crematory Chapel, Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Avenue, Troy with full military honors. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9PM. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Poole to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
