Robert F. Peck, 87

Troy - Robert F. Peck, 87, of Beechwood Troy and formerly of Clinton Place Troy died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Cortland, NY, he was son of the late John Carl Peck and Ruth Schellinger Peck and husband of the late Mary Agnes Callahan Peck. He had resided in Troy most of his life and was a graduate of Albany Academy class of 1941 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earning a Bachelor's degree in Management Engineering class of 1947. His father died when Bob was a young child and he was raised by his stepfather, Henry Kumpf who was the athletic director at RPI for many years.

Mr. Peck was the founder of R.F. Peck Co., Inc. in Albany, 50 years ago, a heating and air-conditioning engineering company.

He was a former member of the Country Club of Troy, a nationally ranked squash player and a member of the Capital District Squash Racquets Association where he was affectionately known as the commissioner, a member of ASHRAE, a heating and air-conditioning engineering society and volunteered for many years for Lifeline alert. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. Bob was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp during World War II and served as a pilot and pilot instructor. Bob was truly a gentleman and will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Robert F. (Luanne) Peck Jr., Loudonville; a daughter, - Patricia (James) Browe, Delmar; a brother, William Kumpf, Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Laura Hollander, Geoffrey Peck, Jennifer Danchetz and James Browe; six great grandchildren, Zachary and Jarred Hollander, Claire Danchetz and Jimmy, Shannon and Molly Browe; a special friend, Pat Gioia, Schenectady and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William E. Peck; a sister, Barbara Barnes and a brother, Doug Peck.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

The family wishes to thank Beechwood and the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their love and support.
