Robert J. Nagle, 90

Wynantskill - Robert J. Nagle, 90, of Albia-Wynantskill, joined the love of his life, Mary, on April 9, 2011. Bob lost his wife to cancer in 1971. He devoted his life to raising his family. He leaves behind his children, Robert (Dorothy) of Loudonville, Barbara Law (Bob) of Castleton, and Donna Chase (John) of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Christi Nagle Huffsmith (Dan), Adam Nagle, Justin and Rob Law, Matthew Chase, and Erica Chase Garrick (Matt) and great grandchild Jackson Huffsmith along with several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his present Wife, Arlene Wilson, whom he married in 1995.

Bob was born and raised in Troy, New York on April 27, 1920 to the late John and Lena Nagle. His younger brother Raymond predeceased him. Bob grew up on Tower Avenue and attended Troy High School.

Bob served in the Army during WWII in the 896th Ord.Company as a mechanic. Upon returning from the Army, Bob worked as a mechanic for Frank Welsh in Wynantskill. He began his career with the Wynantskill School District in 1954 as a bus driver until 1968. Bob became the Transportation Supervisor in 1968 until his retirement in 1984. He loved his job, especially the students that he transported to school and the staff of the district, many of which he remained in contact with until his passing. Bob enjoyed woodworking and designed and built his own home. He was often called upon to assist his children, neighbors and friends to repair cars, remodeling home projects and school projects for his children and grandchildren. Bob was a family man who enjoyed traveling and fishing.

He and his wife, Mary and their children enjoyed summers in the Catskill Mountains with the Nagles and Knausses, the Rooney family at Cossayuna Lake and many enjoyable evenings with the Cramers. The family shared events with their friends, the Smiths, Murrays, Carrozzas and many others. Upon retirement, Bob traveled by motor home to 48 states with his dear friends, the late Harriet and Dave Terpening. Bob enjoyed fishing and vacationing with his children and grandchildren at Cape Cod. He enjoyed summers at Lake George and Myrtle Beach with Arlene and friends.

His family and friends will miss Bob's kindness, humor and knowledge. A special thanks to the staff at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush for their care, compassion and respect over the past 5 months.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday from 12-1 PM. The funeral service will be at 1PM.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
