Robert A. 'Mac' MacLeod, 55

Troy Robert A. 'Mac' MacLeod, 55, of Troy, former Troy Police Officer, died Tuesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he was son of the late Angus and Dorothy MacLeod. He was raised in Brooklyn and in 1974 he came to the Troy area. He was educated at Wagner College and Hudson Valley Community College.

'Mac' was a patrolman for the Troy Police Department for 21 years, retiring in 1996. He served as a patrolman, a juvenile detective, a court officer and an evidence technician. He was also a member and treasurer of the credit union of the Troy PBA.

He worked bingo for the Ancient Order of the Hibernians in Troy for several years.

Survivors include his three daughters, MeghanVanAken, Aimee LaLiberte (Thomas) and Siobhan MacLeod; a son, Robert A. MacLeod II (Danielle), all of Troy; a brother, James MacLeod of Brooklyn; a wife, Linda MacLeod of Troy; four grandchildren, Dylan MacLeod and Julia, Natalie and Christopher VanAken; two nieces, Tina Stiefel of Troy and Lynda Carter of Cohoes and his dog Sammy MacLeod.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Friday from 4-9pm.
