Robert Everett Anderson, 79

Poestenkill Robert Everett Anderson, 79, died Saturday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.

Born in New Milford, CT he was son of the late Everett G. and Elsie Meyer Anderson and beloved husband for 43 years of Carol Snyder Anderson. He had resided since 1962 in Poestenkill and was educated at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Anderson was a supervisor at Niagara Mohawk in North Albany and later one of the first 5 people to originate the former New York Power Pool in Rotterdam. He worked at the power company for 37 years and retired in 1987.

He was a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Alumni Association, the 25 Year Club of Niagara Mohawk , Poestenkill Historical Society and was an amateur radio operator. He was an avid genealogy researcher, an avid gardener and a Navy veteran of World War II stationed on a sub chaser.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Neil W. Anderson and wife Laurie of Poestenkill; a daughter Christine Carol Grusczak and husband Anthony of New Milford, CT; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Doris Anderson of New Milford, CT, Paul and Margery Rummel of Taborton and Janet Snyder of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three grandchildren Adam E. Anderson and Elizabeth and Ben Fontaine; 7 nieces and nephews; four grand nephews and several beloved cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Richard M. Anderson.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
