Richard A. Brennan

June 18, 1932 ~ September 9, 2015 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Poestenkill - Richard A. Brennan, 83, of Ott Street died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. 

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Michael J. Brennan and Naomi Leonard Brennan and husband for almost 60 years of Asunta ‘Sue’ Centanni Brennan. He was raised in Troy and had resided in Poestenkill for the past 51 years. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School class of 1950 and attended drafting school at General Electric.  

Richard was employed by New York State as a Project Engineer in the Office of General Services for 30 years retiring in 1988. 

He was a volunteer for the Eddy Day Break, a Cub Scout leader, and the a volunteer at the St. Anthony of Padua Church Food Pantry.  He was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War.   

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Michael J. Brennan (Lourdes), Hollywood, FL,  Kathleen (Glenn) Claydon, Poestenkill, Mary-Ellen (Frank) St. Pierre, Poestenkill and Jason (Heather) Brennan, Colonie; a daughter-in-law, Amy Vandeloo Brennan, Selkirk; his grandchildren, Colleen Brennan, Ian Claydon, Madaline (David) Jenkins, Jeremy Brennan, Taylor St. Pierre, Lauren, Andrew  and Alisha Brennan and Stone Brennan; two great grandchildren, Jordan Shea and Eleanor Jenkins; a brother, Terrance (Mary) Brennan, Waterford and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Mark Jude Brennan and a brother,  Frank Brennan. The family would like to thank Louie Centanni and Mary-Ellen Brennan for all their time and caring during his illness. 

Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church  39 Old Route 66 Averill Park on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10-11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 AM  with Rev. Thomas F. Holmes , Pastor. 

Interment will be in  Oakwood Cemetery Troy. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Richard A. Brennan to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York 965 Albany-Shaker Road Latham, NY 12110.
