Rev. James Lewis Anderson

October 15, 1940 ~ July 30, 2014 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Latham - Rev. James Lewis Anderson, 73, of Marc Place Latham, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after battling a difficult illness.

Born in Princeton, MN, he was son of the late Walter R. Anderson and Gladys Thompson Anderson and husband for 51 years of Laureen 'Laurie' Eriksen Anderson. He had resided in Latham from 1996-2014, West Sand Lake from 1980-1996, Clifton Park from 1975-1980 and in Northern California from 1971-1975.

Jim was a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota in 1962, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, and at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, earned a Master's of Divinity in 1965. 

Jim worked for the New York State Legislature in the late 1970’s and led the bid for New York City to hold the 1980 Olympics.

Jim was an Assistant Professor of Humanities 1996-2014, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Previously he was Pastor of Calvary Chapel in West Sand Lake, and various other churches. 

Jim was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Latham, NY where he and his wife coordinated the Premarital Ministry of the church. He was an incredible Grandpa, truly loved spending time with his family, and even in the midst of his illness was able to, just recently, vacation with his entire family in Cape Cod basking in the sun and wading in the ocean.       
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children, Kristen (Paul) Zaloom, Watervliet, Erik (Rachel) Anderson, Grove City, PA, and Amy (Josh) Vinehout, Latham; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Gregory, Quincy, Riese, Porter, Fisher, Arden and brother-in-law, Phillip (Beth) Eriksen, Bemidji, MN.

Relatives and friends may call at Grace Fellowship Church, 20 Delatour Rd, Watervliet, NY on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM with a service to follow at 11:30 AM with officiant, Dr. Rex Keener, and participant, Rev. Doug Nelson.

Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie, NY, led by Rev. Will Babarczy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Rev. James Lewis Anderson to Grace Fellowship Church for the GF Youth Ministry at 20 Delatour, Rd, Watervliet, NY.
