Raymond A. Cooper, 64

Halfmoon - Raymond A. Cooper, 64, of Rt 146 died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Saratoga Hospital Church Street Saratoga Springs, NY after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Harold H. Cooper Sr. and Laura L. Teal Cooper. He was raised in Sand Lake and resided most of his life in Troy. He was a graduate of Averill Park High School.

Ray was a truck driver for over 40 years, the past several years for Nationwide Trucking in Albany , retiring 2 years ago.

He was an avid sports fan who loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was Kevin Harvick #29. He enjoyed Bobblehead day at Saratoga Raceway with his family, the casinos and cookouts. Ray loved driving truck, whale watching in Cape Cod every year and lounging in the sun. His Maine Coon Cat, Sly, was his constant companion.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie 'Pooh' Sparks and two sons, Raymond and Richard Cooper all of Florida; two sisters, Edna (Don) McBournie, Salem, CT, and Barbara (Brent) Vaughan, North Troy; a brother, John (Joyce) Cooper, West Sand Lake; three grandchildren, Heather, Zach, and Chloe and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Herbst and two brothers, Donald and Harold H. Cooper Jr.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery East Schodack.
