Rachel E. (Dawes) Middleton

August 8, 1928 ~ May 15, 2015 (age 86) 86 Years Old

East Greenbush - Rachel E. Dawes Middleton, 86, of Best Road died Friday, May 15, 2015, at her residence after a long  illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born in East Schodack, she was daughter of the late Josiah O. Dawes and Edith B. Hankle Dawes and wife for 69 years of Gordon J. Middleton.  

Rachel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was dedicated to her family.  She worked making pens at Imperial Pen in Nassau.  During WW II, she worked making flying suits for the Army. 

She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in East Schodack, the Eastern Star #826 in East Greenbush and a 50 year member of the Best Luther Fire Company Auxiliary and enjoyed working on the rummage sales. 

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children,  Gerald W.(Jean)  Middleton, East Schodack,  Diane L. Binck Middleton, Rensselaer and Allen E. Middleton, East Schodack; a sister,  Dorothy A. Teeter, East Greenbush; two brothers,  Malcolm A. Dawes, East Schodack and Donald E. Dawes, Averill Park; five grandchildren, Christa, Adam and Michael Middleton and Brian and Amy Binck and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother,  George Dawes.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Sunday from 4-7PM. 

Funeral service will be held Monday  at 10AM at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Palmer, officiating..

Interment will be in  Trinity Lutheran Cemetery West Sand Lake.

Rachel wanted to thank everyone for attending the celebration of her life which was held on March 14th.
