Owen Joseph 'Sonny' Quell, 79

Albany - Owen Joseph 'Sonny' Quell, 79, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Hudson Park Rehab and Nursing Center Albany after a long illness.

Born at Snyders Corners, NY, he was son of the late Owen F. Quell and Gertrude Landfear Quell and loving husband of Maryann E. Bowman Quell. He had resided in Wynantskill and Troy all his life and attended Troy schools.

Owen was a school bus driver and custodian for the Wynantskill School District for 14 years, retiring in 2000. He had also been a plumbing and heating specialist at Montgomery Ward in Menands and operated a small engine repair shop.

Owen was a member of the Air National Guard ,an NRA Instructor, a member of the Nassau Rod and Gun Club, a Wynantskill Volunteer Fireman , a member of the fire police and a fire warden. He loved deer hunting and fishing.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Ron (Sally) Quell, Wisconsin, Rose Marie (Billy) Lahana, Colonie, Eric (Julie) Quell, West Virginia, Daniel (Dulca ) Quell, Largo, FL, Owen Joseph Quell Jr., Michigan, Arlene Quell, Delmar, Chris Quell, Hawaii and Amy Quell, Malta; his siblings, Joseph O. (Sharon) Quell, West Sand Lake, Ronald F. (Kathy) Quell, Grandin, MO, Elizabeth (Raymond) F Bieg, Raymertown, Patricia A. (Larry) Heffner, Averill Park and Sandra J. Cooper, Tennessee; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Quell; a sister, Gertrude (Trudy) Wedge and a brother, Richard Quell.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday from 9-10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church Pawling Avenue Troy.

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Owen Joseph Quell to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center 56 Game Farm Rd Delmar, NY 12054.
