Norman P. Goyer, 80

Troy - Norman P. Goyer, 80, of Highland Avenue Troy died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Norman J. Goyer and Helen M. Beehm Goyer and husband of the late Julia Pszeniczny 'Prince' Goyer. He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of Troy High School and Hudson Valley Community College.

Mr. Goyer was an audit clerk for the New York State Workers Compensation Board and Taxation and Finance for many years retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Troy Senior Citizen Center, enjoyed reading and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and hiking. In 1965, he won the Troy City Tournament scratch singles title and the all-events championship and in 2008, just shy of his 78th birthday, Norman bowled his first 300 game at Green Island Lanes. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA with a rank of Airman Second Class.

Survivors include a son, David J. (Maria Morris) Goyer of Stillwater; a brother, Robert J. (Marylou) Goyer of Troy; his grandchildren, Andrew Goyer of Stillwater and Jeffrey Goyer of Waterford; a step grandchild, Elizabeth Morris of Stillwater; a dear companion, Naomi Cole, Antioch, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 6th floor of Samaritan Hospital.
