Norma Cooper Smith

Troy - Norma Cooper Smith, passed away on October 31, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born and lived most of her life in Troy, New York. She was the daughter of Frank A. Cooper and Leora Prediger Cooper.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Troy High School and the former Troy Business College. She was a homemaker for many years and in later life was a Senior Secretary at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, retiring after twenty years of service.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Troy. She had been a Sunday School teacher and a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Survivors include a son, David (Barbara) A. Smith of Clifton Park, NY, a brother, Frank (Patricia) Cooper of Troy, NY and two grandchildren, Dane A. Smith of Fairfax, Virginia and Bradley C. Smith of Williamsburg, Virginia. She also has a nephew, Frank A. Cooper (Tricia) of North Carolina and a niece, Susan Sonnenberg (Marko) of Greenwich, Connecticut.

She wished to say "Thank you!" to all of her friends at RPI for their wonderful kindness over the many years of her retirement, her friends at the Troy Senior Center, and her caretaker Nadia from Community Hospice.

Services will be strictly private at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery.
