Nelson E. Brott, 90

Delmar - Nelson E. Brott, 90, of Delaware Avenue died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center Albany, after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Earl W. Brott and Elizabeth Lutz Brott and husband of the late Lena L. Chronister Brott. He had resided in Wynantskill and Troy most of his life and the past 20 years in Albany and was a graduate of Troy schools.

Nelson was a clerk for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years and later was a bank security guard in Troy.

He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Troy and a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital for many years. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and was shot down over occupied France and was MIA for several weeks. He was a paratrooper and a member of the Caterpillar Club, jumping greater than 20,000 feet. Nelson flew many missions as an aerial gunner.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen (James) Henderson, Calgary Alberta Canada; three sons, Gary (Emy) Brott, Sunset Beach, NC, Wayne (Cheryl) Brott, Troy and Craig (Tina) Brott, Seattle, WA; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his siblings, Lorraine Dalessandro, Watervliet, Donald J. Wiesenforth, Brunswick, Thomas R. Wiesenforth, Lima, Peru and Marlene (Mrs D. Wallace) Bryce, Averill Park and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronnie Brott; a brother, Robert W. Brott and a sister, Constance Wiesenforth.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30AM at the funeral home withinterment at 12:30PM at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
