Murial Ann Eisele DeRosaApril 21, 2006
West Sand Lake- Muriel Ann Eisele DeRosa, 86,of Route 43, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late George Maximillian Eisele and Mathilda (Herter) Eisele and shared 57 years of marriage with the late Eugene Pershing DeRosa Jr.
She had resided in West Sand Lake for 56 years and earned her Bachelor's degree from Hunter College in New York City, Magna Cum Laude and her Masters degree from the College of St. Rose.
Mrs. DeRosa was an elementary school music teacher for the Menands School District from 1968-1984. The students still remember 'Mrs. DeRosa' as a brilliant teacher with fabulous musical productions.
Active in all types of local activities, Mrs. DeRosa was Rensselaer County Red Cross Swimming Program Chairman for 35 years, President of the West Sand Lake PTA, a Master Gardener, a member of the Day Lily Society and a fund raiser and volunteer for Cerebral Palsy and the Association for Retarded Children. She was also a member of Mensa, the Choral Society and the International Brotherhood of Magician's. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a member of the choir and Vestry.
She is survived by her four children, Carolyn Ann DeRosa of West Sand Lake, Barbara DeRosa Scialfa of Newport Coast, CA., David DeRosa of Rotterdam and Linda DeRosa Zufall of Arroyo Grande, CA.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Requiem Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church , Third and State Streets Troy with Rev. Michael Gorchov, Rector, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9pm.
Interment Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake. Contributions may be made in memory of Muriel DeRosa to Hunter College Foundation, Inc., 695 Park Avenue, 1313A, New York, NY 10021.
