Morton P. Casey Jr., 93

West Sand Lake - Morton P. Casey Jr., 93, died suddenly Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Albany Memorial Hospital with his family at his side as he peacefully passed.

Born in Jeffersonville, PA, he was son of the late Morton P.Casey Sr. and Alice Reese Casey and husband of the late Ruth M. Decker Casey. He moved from PA to the Capital District in 1932. He resided for 71 years in West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Troy High .

Morton was a precision machinist/middle level manager of the machine shop for General Electric Research and Development for 35 years retiring in 1981. He also co-owned Casey Instrument with his brother, Philip, making high-tech machine instruments. Morton  was very loyal to his country, he served as a  Navy Seabee in both World War II and the Korean War and was active in the Normandy Invasion.

Morton had a zest for life and great interest in diet, health and wellness. He was up to date on all current events and enjoyed talking about them. He was an avid reader and loved history. He was visionary, a builder, and an inventor who lived life to the fullest.

Morton spent the last 16 months at The Spinney at Pond View in Castleton On Hudson where he was very active and made many friends.

Survivors include his 3 children Pamela (Peter) Agostino, Madison, AL, Morton P. (Beth) Casey III, N. Greenbush, Susan E. (Pete) St. Pierre, Nassau; his siblings Frank R. Casey, Troy, Philip M. Casey, Margate , FL and Arline Ernst, Averill Park; his 5 grandchildren including Kim (Chris) Casey Ligouri, William (Desiree) LaFleur, Laura (Jason) D'Agostino, Matthew (Kathryn) LaFleur. He was predeceased by his brother John 'Jack' R. Casey.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling AvenueTroy on Friday, from 6 - 8 PM .

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Doug Nelson, officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Morton P. Casey Jr. to the American Diabetes Association 2 Pine West Plaza Albany, NY 12205.
