Millicent 'Millie' (Adams) Johnston

Center Brunswick - Millicent ' Millie' Adams Johnston, 88, a longtime resident of Center Brunswick NY passed away on July 23rd at The Eddy Memorial in Troy, NY.

Millie was born in Sussex, England on August 6, 1928, and immigrated to the US in 1946.  She initially moved to Troy before ultimately settling in Center Brunswick.  Millie worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards and Pepsi, and as a cashier at Action Chevrolet.  She was a life-long member of the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church.

Her faith, spirits, and sharp mind were with her to the end.  Fiercely independent, she handled adversity with grace, and was loved by all who knew her.  She enjoyed the waning years of her life at the Eddy where she found purpose and joy in being President of the Resident Council, kept the attendance sheets for the activities, and went on several outings with new friends.  She also spent many happy hours, reading, knitting, and doing counted cross-stitch.

Millie is survived by her son, Gary R. Johnston and wife Sue of Rock Hill SC, and daughter, Cheryl Johnston Ferrara and husband Michael of Santa Rosa CA. She was immensely proud of her five grandchildren, Rev. Michael (Kelly) Johnston, Chrystie (Morgan) Way, Bonnie Ferrara MD, Holly Ferrara, and Andrew Ferrara, and was blessed with four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2 PM at the Eddy Memorial- Barbara Simmons Chapel 2256 Burdett Avenue Troy with Rev. Michael Johnston , her grandson, officiating with a visitation immediately following.

The family wishes to thank the devoted staff of Eddy Memorial for the wonderful care, friendship, and attention given to her.
