Michael Angelo Maurizio Carucci

Troy - Michael Angelo Maurizio Carucci, of 1 Cleminshaw Avenue, Troy New York, passed on from this life on September 23rd, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of Mrs. Nicolina Helen Carucci and the late Aldo Carucci.

Michael (or Cooch as he liked to be known) began his wonderful life in Terracina Italy on May 28th 1950. He immigrated to America with his mother in May of 1962, and settled on Congress Street, later to 14th Street, in Troy New York.

Michael was a student at St Francis de Sales Academy, and later went on to graduate from LaSalle Institute. He graduated from Empire State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in history.

For the last thirty-four years, Michael worked as the messenger for the Troy City School District; he always affectionately referred to it as his second home.

Michael played an instrumental role in the formation of the Brunswick Soccer League. He went on to coach youth soccer teams for Brunswick and for Watervliet. He was known for being an avid runner; at his best he ran three miles every day. Residents of Burdett Avenue would see him frequently, as that was his favorite place to run. Among his many artistic passions, such as playing guitar, photography, and drawing, Michael was a lifetime lover of sports, especially soccer and hockey. Everyone on Cleminshaw Avenue knew when the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing; they could hear him cheering passionately throughout the neighborhood .

Michael is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Nancy Lee Purcell Carucci, their three children, Erik Aldo Carucci (his fiancée Daphne Christine Playotes), Ian Michael Carucci (his wife Paula Mary Carucci), and Jean Nicolina Carucci. He is also survived by his two grand-children, Anthony Michael Carucci, and Vincent Ronald Carucci. Michael also leaves behind his sister Patrizia Carucci Interdonato, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and beloved friends.
