Merrill F. Warren , 85

Troy Merrill F. Warren , 85 ,of Nyroy Drive Troy, retired Captain of the Troy Fire Department, died Monday, October 25, 2004 at Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Clyde Warren and Marie (Bliss) Warren and husband of Edith Heber Warren.

He had resided in Troy all his life and attended Troy High School.

Mr. Warren was a firefighter with the Troy Fire Department for 33 years retiring in 1981 as a Captain.

He was a life member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club and a member of the Uniformed Firefighters and the Frear Park Twilight Golf League. A Staff Sergeant, during World War II, in the 508th Paratrooper Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division and active in the D-day invasion and was a former Prisoner of War.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and all around sport.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a brother, Lester Warren (Marie) of Latham; a sister, Lillian Coulter of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. John McAuley, Pastor of Third Presbyterian Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9PM. Interment St. Jean's Cemetery, in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Warren to the Third Presbyterian Church 113 Winter Street Troy, NY 12180.
