Melvin O. Markle, 91

Poestenkill Melvin O. Markle, 91, of Snyders Corners Road, died Tuesday at Albany County Nursing Home Colonie, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late William and Alice Oaten Markle and husband of the late Kathryn M. Johnson Markle. He was raised in Troy and resided in Green Island before moving to Poestenkill in 1947.

Mr. Markle was employed as a machinist for Tek Hughes in Watervliet for 44 years, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy and an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II with the rank of Staff Sargent.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Vincent (James) of Loudonville; his son, David M. Markle of Wynantskill; five grandchildren, Colleen Reo, Lori McGrath, Richard Markle, Amy Smith and Kathryn Novak; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Jillian McGrath and Sarah and Kayla Novak and three nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters Grace Court and Marion Dufty.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling and Maple Avenues Troy with Rev. Douglas Thomson, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 3-7pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
