Nassau Melinda Delight Beckwith Stokes , 45 ,of Nassau, NY died Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany after a brief illness.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Colleen Delight Stedman Clark of Florida and the late Robert L. Beckwith, step daughter of the late Clifford Clark Sr. and wife of Robert G. Stokes Jr of Nassau.

She had resided in Nassau for 5 years and was a graduate of Columbia High School.

Mrs.Stokes was employed at the service center of Montgomery Ward in Menands for over 20 years and currently worked in the Berlin Central School District as a secretary and in the maintenance department of the Averill Park School District.

She served on the Boy Scout Committee for Troop 529 in Defreestville.

Survivors in addition to her husband and mother include a son, Joshua Stokes of Nassau; three sisters, Melissa Caswell of Stephentown, Sandra Schumacher of West Sand Lake and Colleen Stevens of Nassau; six brothers, Robert Beckwith of East Greenbush, Frank Beckwith of West Sand Lake, Mark Beckwith of Wynantskill, John Beckwith of Florida, Scott Beckwith of Nassau and Guy Beckwith of Schodack; several step brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Salem United Methodist Church Shaver Road West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Salem United Methodist Church Tuesday, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, in West Sand Lake.
