Flanders, NJ - Matthew Mark LaPlante 40, of Flanders and Wynantskill died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Nova Scotia, Canada after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of Judi (Gundrum) LaPlante of Wynantskill and George and Tricia LaPlante, Jr. of Brunswick, NY and fiancé of Tammy Geibel of Warren, NJ.

Matt was raised in Wynantskill and is a 1987 graduate of Troy High School. Matt moved to New Jersey in 1989. He worked for Eastern Computer Exchange Inc. for several years.

Matts love of travel brought him to destinations one only dreams of. He was an avid golfer, car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Matt will always be remembered by his infectious laugh and smile- he truly celebrated every moment.

Matt is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law Kim and Dave Demarest and his nephews, who were his pride and joy, Joe and Sam Demarest all of Wynantskill, grandmother Mary LaPlante of Albany, grandfather Earl Gundrum of Ocala, FL, his New Jersey family the Cioffi's, Bo Geibel, Scott Geibel and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends. He was predeceased by his grandmother Mae Puffer, grandfathers Wallace Puffer and George LaPlante, Sr., and uncle Jack VonFricken

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at the convenience of the family.

Contributions may be made in memory of Matthew Mark LaPlante to Victory Junction Gang Camp 4500 Adam's Way Randleman, NC 27317 or to a charity of one's choice.
