Mary B. (Bakarian) Tashjian

Glenville - Mary Bakarian Tashjian, 86, of Baldwin Road died Friday, April 10, 2015, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Troy, she was daughter of the late Hampartsum (Harry) Bakarian and Kenovapar (Anna) Basmadjian Bakarian Manoogian and wife of the late Charles R. Tashjian Sr.  She moved to Albany in 1953, resided in Delmar and most recently lived in Glenville. She was educated in Troy schools and attended cosmetology school in NYC. 

Mary was a hairdresser for over 40 years, from which she developed many lifelong friendships and later worked as a real estate agent throughout the capital district.

Mary was a charter member and past president of the Daughters of Vartan Shakeh Otyag Lodge. She was an Armenian school teacher at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church for many years.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, C.  Richard ( Jo-Ann) Tashjian Jr., River Edge, NJ, Marianne N. (Rafi) Topalian, Delmar, Robert (Moira) Tashjian, Glenville; her grandchildren Roxanne and Adam Tashjian,  Sarah English,
Sean (Kathleen) Tashjian, Joseph Tashjian,  Robert Tashjian; and several nieces and nephews of the Manoogian and Moroukian families. She was predeceased by her brother Manoog Joseph Manoogian and, sister,  Rosanne Moroukian Vartanian.
                                            
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4 - 8 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy - Schenectady Road, Watervliet  with Rev. Stephanos Doudoukjian, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
