Mary Virginia Yaiser Allen, 86

West Sand Lake Mary Virginia Yaiser Allen, 86, of West Sand Lake, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday April 12, 2005 at Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush after a brief illness.

Mary Virginia was born in Troy, New York on September 1, 1918 to the late William and Mae (Powers) Yaiser. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Troy and Catholic Central High School. Mrs. Allen was employed as a clerk at her family's store, Yaiser's Variety Store on Fourth St. in Troy. She worked at Frear's Department store, and she managed the concession stand many years ago at the former Proctor's Theater in Troy. She also served as a home health aide for several years. Mary Virginia was a member of Washington Park Friendly Seniors, Troy Seniors Citizens, a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill and the Alter Rosary Society of the Church. She was inducted in the Alpha Phi National Sorority in the Fall of 2002.

On April 27, 1941, Mary Virginia and the late James Sheridan 'Sherd' Allen celebrated the sacrament of marriage at St. Mary's Church in Troy. Their love for one another united them for over 60 years on this earth and their love will join them eternally in heaven. She is the devoted mother of Colleen Ann Allen of Waterford, and Paul V. and Judith I. Allen of Pin ole, CA. She is the sister of William and Rosann Yaiser of Sycaway. She is forever cherished by four granddaughters, Jill M. Finnegan of FL, Patricia A. Champitto of Loudonville, Megan M. Champitto of LI, and Casey Champitto of Waterford. She is the beloved great grandmother of Olivia Virginia Champitto. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by two loving sisters, M. Eileen Allen and Rita Hamlin.

Funeral Service will be held at Saturday at 10:00am at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:30 am at St. Jude the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Clark, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call the funeral home Friday from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Virginia to the Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund 385 Watervliet - Shaker Road Latham, NY 12110.
