Martin Dudley DeFreest, 95

Defreestville - Martin Dudley DeFreest, 95, of Winter Street Extension died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Born and lived in Defreestville his entire life, he was son of the late Martin Ensign DeFreest and Anna S. (Jordon) DeFreest and husband of the late Evelyn (Wehnau) DeFreest. He attended Troy High School.

Mr. DeFreest wintered in Zephyrhills, FL for many years. He was employed at International Harvester in Menands for many years.

He was a lifelong member of Blooming Grove Reformed Church and a member of the Defreestville Fire Department.

Survivors include a sister, Emmaline DeFreest of Troy; his grandchildren, Theresa (Doug Tobin) Mugrace of North Greenbush, Lisa (Martin) Mahar of East Greenbush, Mario (Laura) Mugrace of Schodack and Jenny (Adam Crofoot) Mugrace of Keene Valley; his great grandchildren, Bethany, Justin and Derek Tobin, Carina, Farron and Bailey Mahar and Aden and Kylie Mugrace; his son-in-law, Michael Peabody of Defreestville and a Goddaughter, Martha Wehnau Reed. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Peabody in September of 2008 and by a sister, Helen Madison and a brother, Milton DeFreest.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Blooming Grove Reformed Church 706 Bloomingrove Drive Rensselaer with Rev. James Hart Brumm, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Friday from 5-7 PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake.
