Marjorie M. (Teal) Shoemaker

Averill Park - Marjorie M. Shoemaker, 92, formerly of Pine Avenue died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Taborton, she was daughter of the late J. Albert Teal and Mary E. Nash Teal and wife of the late Clarence E. Shoemaker. She was raised in Taborton and resided in Averill Park most of her life and was a  graduate of Averill Park High School and Mildred Elley. 

Mrs. Shoemaker was employed as an Administrative secretary for the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department from 1957-1977.  

She was an avid camper, wintered in Rockledge, Fl and summered at  Coldbrook Campground in Gansevoortand enjoyed spending time with her cat, Charlie Brown.  She enjoyed traveling including Alaska and Hawaii.  She was a life member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Taborton.    

Survivors include a niece, Virginia Ann Palmer, AZ; two nephews,  John E. (Sharon Sorell) Houser, Averill Park and Jeffrey S. (Jean) Houser, East Greenbush and two great nieces, Cassandra (Daniel) Barrett and  Nicole Houser and a great nephew, Kevin Palmer. She was predeceased by a sister, Edna Houser and a nephew, Michael Palmer.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Friday from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Robert K. Loesch, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
