Marjorie Hirst DouttielApril 17, 2006
Brunswick- Marjorie Hirst Douttiel, 85, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Watervliet, she was the daughter of the late John Hirst and Nellie (Thayer) Hirst.
She had resided in Watervliet until 1957 when she and her husband moved to Brunswick and was a graduate of Emma Willard School in Troy in 1938 and attended Comptometer School.
Mrs. Douttiel was employed by Socony Oil Company many years ago. On October 9, 1943 she married Jack W Douttiel, her husband of 55 years. He predeceased her in May of 1999.
She was member of Christ Church United Methodist in Troy where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She and her husband Jack were co-founders of the Up&Comers at Christ Church. She was also past president of the Women s Society, a former member of Ilium Literary Club and Church Women United. She and her husband spent time on Bowman Lake in Taborton, NY and they were active in the Lake Association activities and was presently the historian for the Lake Association. Her greatest loves were her family and photographing her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Pryor (William) of Troy; her son, David Douttiel of Richmond, VA; her foster daughter, Renee Szwetkowski of Malta, five grandchildren, Brian Pryor (Jennifer) of Troy, Barry Pryor (Kimberly) of Troy, Todd Szwetkowski (Stacey) of Clifton Park, Tonya Savalis (William) of Longmont, CO and David Douttiel Jr. of Richmond, VA and four great grandchildren, Alexis, Brandon, Alexander and Emily Pryor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at Christ Church United Methodist 35 State Street Troy with Rev. Dr. James Fenimore, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
