Marjorie L. Bassett, 81

Poestenkill - Marjorie L. Bassett, 81, of Plank Road died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Hoosick Falls, NY, she was daughter of the late Hudson Bassett and Beatrice Wilson Bassett. She had resided in Poestenkill most of her life and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School, Fanny Allen School of Nursing in Burlington and St. Michael's College in Colchester, VT.

Ms. Bassett was employed as a Registered Nurse at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center and Albany Memorial Hospital where she taught surgical technology and Russell Sage where she taught nursing. She was also a nurse for St. Mary's Hospital from 1964 until her retirement in 2000.

Survivors include a special friend, Linda Biittig, Poestenkill; a brother, Floyd Bassett, Berlin; a sister, Laura Bassett and several nieces and nephews.

Linda Biittig would like to thank her family, Richard and Barbara Biittig, Carolyn Biittig, Al and Barbara Fournier, Edward and Betty Biittig, Joan and Dick Hoffman, Mike and Irene Mieczkowski for all of their love and support. Also a special thank you to Drs. Charles Sulzman and Joseph Roglieri and their staffs and all the dedicated nurses of St. Mary's Hospital 5 south.

Relatives and friends may call at the St. Henry's Church 39 Old Route 66Averill Park on Tuesday, from 12 Noon-1PM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1PM with Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.
