Marion Wansovich Barnes Tashjian, 85

Troy - Marion W. Tashjian, 85, surrounded by her family members, peacefully departed this life on May 12, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the third of four children of the late Michael and Mae Stidnick Wansovich. She was the dearly beloved wife of Jack S. Tashjian, Sr. whom she married on May 18, 1996.

A lifelong resident of Troy, NY she was born on January 12, 1928. A graduate of School #12 and Troy High School (1945), she also attended Troy Business College.

Marion's first employment position was as secretary to the manager of the Troy Coca-Cola Bottling Co. After a retirement of 13 years to raise her two children, she reentered the work force, first at Russell Sage College business office and subsequently at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from which she retired in 1993 after 22 years of service.

In addition to her husband, Marion's survivors include her beloved children, Susan Barnes Seim (David) of Melrose, NY, and William M. Barnes (Patrice) of Sudbury, MA, her treasured grandchildren Katharine C. and Jonathan D. Seim, and Alec M., Matthew R., and Cecilia E. Barnes, five stepchildren, Lee S., Jack, Jr., James G., and Mark S. Tashjian, and Holly B. Tashjian Steciuk, and many step-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph, John, and Irene Wansovich, and her former husband, William C. Barnes.

Friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. It was Marion's wish that the interment be private at the convenience of her immediate family in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Vandenburg Avenue, Troy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marion's memory may be made either to Capital City Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1999, Albany, NY 12201 or St. Nicholas Ukranian Orthodox Church, 376 Third Street, Troy, NY 12180.
