Marie Engwer Sagendorf , 84

West Sand Lake Marie Engwer Sagendorf , 84 ,of Stop 13 Road West Sand Lake, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Taborton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel A. Engwer Sr. and Lillian (Cooper) Engwer and beloved wife for 69 years of Wayman 'Sagie, Ray, The Green's Man' Sagendorf.

She had resided in Taborton, Troy for many years, Green Island and had resided in West Sand Lake for the past 50 years and was educated at Troy Public School 16 .

Mrs.Sagendorf was a homemaker and many years ago a waitress at Fay's in North Greenbush, The Tavern in Troy, and Raphaels in Latham as well as working in the meat department of Empire Market. She, for several years, has worked with her husband, delivering greens to area florists.

She was an active member of the Third Presbyterian Church of Troy serving as Deacon and Elder and was a member of the United Presbyterian Women and the American Kennel Club. For many years she raised AKC German Shepherds for show and had raised 2 champions.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Wayman Sagendorph (Cheryl) of NC, Edward Sagendorf of West Sand Lake and Timothy Sagendorf of Schaghticoke, N.Y.; four sisters, Alethea Carroll of Florida, Lillian Lapp (Harold) of California, Dorothy McGann (George) of Wynantskill and Jean Sandman (David) of Troy; a brother, Daniel A. Engwer Jr. of Averill Park; 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, many great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Marie A. 'Sis' Callahan; two sons, Thomas Francis and Robert Daniel Sagendorf and two sisters, Gladys A. Manning and Elizabeth Sorrento.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, at 10:00 AM at the Third Presbyterian Church 113 Winter Street Troy with Rev. John Mcauley, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
