Margaret Cordes Nicolay, 85

Delmar - Margaret Cordes Nicolay, 85, formerly of Ridge, NY died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar after a long illness.

Born in Bronx, NY, she was daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Morath Cordes and wife of the late Franz L.F. Nicolay.

She had resided in Ridge for many years and in Clifton Park since 2002. She was educated at Bay Ridge High School Brooklyn, NY and attended business school.

Margaret was the bookkeeper and co-owned and operated, with her husband, Elite of Suffolk, Inc. in Ridge, Long Island for 48 years retiring in 1998.

She was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, a member of the Middle Island Rotary Club, Mather Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Brookhaven Hospital Auxiliary and active in church activities in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ridge and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clifton Park.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina Greenfield (James) of Rensselaer and Karen Allard (Lionel III) of Rockville, MD; a son, Franz Nicolay of Center Sandwich, NH; a sister, Lillian Scherbner of Fleetwood, PA. a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Siegfried Dankenbring of Oyster Bay, NY; a sister-in-law, Martha Nicolay of Brooklyn and six grandchildren, Casey and Tucker Allard and Franz, Megan, Sophie and Ariana Nicolay.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 4 Northcrest Drive Clifton Park with Rev. Jake Marvel, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.

Interment Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
