Margaret G. Higbee, 105

Reston, VA - Margaret G. Higbee died Sunday morning, September 4, 2011 in Reston, VA following a brief illness. She was 105. Wife of the late Lester C. Higbee, she is survived by their three children: Mary Ann Evans, of Reston, VA; Gary B. Higbee (Barbara), of Troy; and Jane M. Higbee, also of Troy; by three grandchildren: Jennifer E. Allard (Fred), of Virginia; Sarah A. Evans, Virginia; David A. Evans, Jr., New York; and one great-grandchild, Margaret C. Allard, Virginia. She is also survived by her husband's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from his first marriage.

Born in Valley Falls, NY, she was a long-time Troy resident and member of the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, Ilium Literary Club, Women's Club and Troy Musical Arts, and of the administrative staff at HVCC for 10 years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of the former St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Green Island, NY and St. John's Episcopal Church, Troy, and served as organist and choirmaster of Gilead Lutheran Church, Center Brunswick, NY.

A graveside service will be held at the site of interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 am. Those wishing, may gather prior to 11am at the Gardner Earl Chapel in Oakwood to process to the family plot.
