West Sand Lake - Madeline V. Hoerner Alifano, 76, of Cardinal Avenue died September 18, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center Guilderland after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was daughter of the late Adam Hoerner and Frances Matera Hoerner and wife for 54 years of Arthur W. Alifano. She was raised in Queens and resided in West Sand Lake for the past 45 years. She was a child whose father was stationed in Pearl Harbor and survived the Japanese attack during World War II.
Mrs. Alifano was a bookkeeper for Stilsing Electric Inc. in Rensselaer for 32 years retiring in 2012.
She was a dedicated communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. She enjoyed needlepoint, spending time with her husband and children and enjoyed traveling, antique shopping and Broadway musicals.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Diane (Thomas) Ransom, Averill Park, Steven (Debbie) Alifano, Clifton Park and Linda Alifano, Waterford; her grandchildren, John Snyder, Phillip Radz and Anthony, Nicholas and Dominic Alifano; a brother, John (Karen) Hoerner, Asheville, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Sunday from 4-7PM.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10AM at the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, Pastor.
Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery Averill Park.
