Mabel M. Nofal, 85

Troy - Mabel M. Nofal, 85, of Heartwood Terrace died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 20, 2007. She was a resident of Troy for 56 years.

Mabel was born on Nov. 10, 1922 in East Line, Malta, the only daughter of the late Irving Adelbert and Gladys Evelyn DeVoe Cook. She was the widow of Alfred M. Nofal. She attended Ballston Spa Schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady.

Mabel was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and at her parents' summer home in Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain. She also enjoyed reading, embroidering and baking.

She was employed at and retired from Our Lady of Hope in Latham. Mabel is a 12th generation American descendant of Dutch Settler Resolvent Waldron of New Amsterdam.

She was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Troy.

Mrs. Nofal was predeceased by her son Richard A. Morrissey, and her brother Louis A. Cook.

Mabel is survived by her children, Mrs. Sharon Morrissey Henke (Edmund), Mr. Michael A. Nofal (Robert Hilts), and Mrs. JoAnn Nofal Renasiewicz (Frank). She is also survived by her brother Clyde M. Cook (Bernice) and a Sister in Law Loretta Cook (Louis). Also survived by grandchildren... Teri Lee Salami-Kohan, Natalie Sue McAvoy, Edmund P. Henke, Lori Anne Puca, Eric Henke, Karl Henke, Judi Pritchard, Lisa Morrissey, Debi Robert and Joslyn K. McArdle. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Ave. Troy and at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church State and Third Streets Troy with Rev. Michael Gorchov, Rector, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7 PM.

Interment Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville.
