M. Patricia (Ellis) Philo

Brunswick - M. Patricia Ellis Philo, 75, of Country Way died Friday, October 31, 2014, at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Richard Ellis and Ruth McGrane Ellis and wife for 25 years of the late Richard A. Philo. She had resided in Troy area all her life and was a graduate of St. Peter's Academy, Catholic Central High School and earned her nursing degree from Maria College. 

Pat worked for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 8 years, retiring 15 years ago and prior  to that was employed at Samaritan Hospital in Troy as a Registered  Nurse on the pediatrics and orthopedics departments and for Dr. Samuel Werlin for over 20 years.  

She was a member of the Duncan's Breakfast Club who knew her as ‘Aunt Pat’, a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, Sycaway Senior Citizens and enjoyed reading, the Racino and QVC.   She was a volunteer for 12 years with the Statewide Peer Assistance for Nurses (SPAN) and a friend of Bill W. 

Survivors include her daughter, Donna M. (James) Roarke, Troy; a brother, Richard (Ellen) Ellis, Brunswick; a sister, Maureen Ellis Ramroth, Arizona; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Roarke and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberley Ann Philo.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-7PM. 

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9AM at the funeral home and at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in  St. Peter's Cemetery Troy.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Eddy Heritage House 4th floor. They were kind, compassionate professionals. Thank you to Jen, Krystal, Mark, Dawn, Devigna, Justine, Yolanda, Diedre, Lavern, Nora, Kassandra, Nicky and Mary.  Also our gratitude goes to Dr. David Strumpf and Lisa Thorn who gave Mom many quality years with us.
