Lois K. Smith Lusty, 101

Troy Lois K. Smith Lusty, 101, of Beechwood Apartments Burdett Avenue, died Monday at her residence.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Dr. Frederick Adams and Daisy Pease Smith. She had resided in Troy all her life, formerly on Tibbits Avenue and was a graduate of Emma Willard School and Smith College.

Mrs. Lusty was manager for the former Sim & Company in Troy for 5 years. Her father was one of the founders of the old Samaritan Hospital on Eighth Street in Troy.

She was member for the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, Van Rensselaer Garden Club, Rensselaer County Historical Society, the Thursday Morning Club, the Country Club of Troy, the Archeological Institute of America and a charter member of the Junior League of Troy. She was a world traveler, a lecturer and a long time member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy.

Survivors include a son, David Leland Lusty (Harriette) of York, ME; four grandsons, Paul S. Lusty (Stephanie) of Portland, ME, Eric Lusty (Carol) of York, ME, Philip Lusty (Anne) of York, ME and John Lusty (Kim) of Merrimac, MA and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Alson Leland Lusty, a sister Eleanor deForest and a niece, Peggy Sim Stott.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:00pm from the Eddy Memorial Chapel on Burdett Avenue Troy, with Rev. Alexandra Lusak, Pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy, officiating. There will be no calling hours.

Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Lusty to the Emma Willard School Alumnae Association 285 Pawling Avenue Troy, NY 12180 or the Smith College Alumnae Association in North Hampton, MA 01063.
