Lois E. (Coonley) Bishop

July 16, 1918 ~ December 19, 2014 (age 96) 96 Years Old

East Greenbush - Lois Coonley Bishop, 96, of Luther Road passed into the arms of the Lord, Friday, December 19, 2014, at Evergreen Commons after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Fred Coonley and Nellie Sandholdt Coonley and wife of the late Paul A. Bishop. She had resided in Schenectady, Syracuse and  Florida, summering at Methodist Farm on Crooked Lake for over 70 years and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School 

Lois was employed many years ago as a secretary at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse and was a homemaker. She loved sewing and knitting, as well as playing her organ and singing in the choirs of all her churches and playing piano for Vesper services at the Methodist Farm Chapel. She was a Syracuse University basketball fan, ‘Go Orange’  and one of her lifelong dreams was attending a game at the Dome.

She was a member and Past President of the Council of Independent Parents Organization, a volunteer and Past President of Literacy Volunteers in Troy and a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Fruitland, FL, Eastwood Baptist Church in Syracuse, First Baptist Church Troy and Christ Church United Methodist in Troy.    

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey P. (Raffaela Aiello) Bishop, Syracuse and David G. (Nancy) Bishop, Valley Stream, LI; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bishop, Syracuse; two brothers, Norman Coonley, Schenectady and Kenneth Coonley, Frederick, MD;11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Roger and Freddie Bishop and a sister, Bess Masson.
  
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 1-3PM with a funeral service to follow at 3PM.

Interment will be in Clifton Park Cemetery in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Lois C. Bishop to the Methodist Sunday School Association PO Box 645 Averill Park, NY 12018.
