Leslie David Allen 91

Averill Park - Leslie David Allen 91, of Wisner Road died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his home after a brief illness.

Born in Philmont, NY, he was son of the late Leland and Mabel (Wilkinson) Allen and step-son of the late Wardell Schoonmaker . He was the beloved husband of Margaret Lawson Allen for over 64 years.

Leslie graduated from Waterford High School, spent much of his adult life in Troy, and most recently resided in Averill Park.

He worked for 33 years as a supervisor for the Watervliet Arsenal. He was a World War II, Army Corp of Engineers veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre.

More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his 2 children Marion (Glenn) Walters of Hamilton Square, NJ and David L. (Janet) Allen of Averill Park ; 5 grandchildren, Douglas (Lynn) Walters, Melissa Walters (Michael) Pawlowski, Michael (Lisa) Allen, Joe Allen, and Janna Allen (Koray) Azak; 5 great grand children, Gavin and Paidan Allen, David and Joshua Walters, and Hannah Pawlowski; a sister-in-law, Esther Allen and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Allen, and Wardell (Theresa) Schoonmaker,Jr., and a sister Dorothy (Fred) Weir.

A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
