Lawrence R. LaPlante Sr., 72

Troy- Lawrence R. LaPlante Sr., 72,of Griswold Heights, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at his residence.

Born in Rutland, VT, he was the son of the late Joseph LaPlante and Marjorie (Willis) LaPlante and husband of the late Jeanette Kachidurian LaPlante.

Raised in Rutland, Vermont, he had resided 54 years in Troy and was educated at St. Joseph's Academy in Rutland, Vermont.

Mr. LaPlante was employed as a textile worker at the former Colonie Fiber.

He was an avid sports fanatic and enjoyed bowling. He was an Army Infantry veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by a daughter, Jean-Ann Bridger (Derek Sr.) of Cohoes; a son, Joseph R. LaPlante of Troy; a son-in-law, David Harlow of Watervliet; three brothers, Max LaPlante of CA, Edward LaPlante Sr. of Troy and John LaPlante Sr. of Rutland, VT; two sisters, Helen Lancour of Summerville, SC and Madeline LeValley of San Francisco, CA.; many loving grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Virginia M. Harlow.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Michael Crandall, officiating.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mr. LaPlante to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
