Ker-
This is your first birthday in your new life, and I'm sure you are much happier now than you ever could have been here. For that, I am happy for you.
I was just talking to another friend of yours about some of your favorite things. I guess no one knew these things as well as I did, but you were a bit secretive about these things, weren't you?
As much as I hate Coors light, I'm going to listen to The Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You" and drink one in your honor when I get home tonight. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to hear you playing it on the keyboard and singing it to me like you did so many times when it came out. It never stopped being your favorite song, did it?
Don't expect me to wear green though ... you always said I looked terrible in green and great in red. So I'll go with orange. (Only you would understand that ... I think).
No Eddie Money or Melissa Ethridge concerts for you to catch tonight, but he's in Detroit tomorrow night and she'll be here in October.
Anyway ... it's been years since I could wish you a happy birthday, and I am certain this is the best one ever for you. Rest in peace and I'll see you again someday, I'm sure.

We were saddened to learn of Kerrie’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Kerrie during her years in West Sand Lake Elementary School, both as a student and as a very good friend of my daughter Patti.
As a young girl, Kerri impressed me with her intelligence and her humor. She was always willing to be the object of my jokes and was willing to toss it back at me just as quickly as I said something to her.
Kerri, I am sorry we lost touch as you moved into your adult years, but the memories I have of you are filled with laughter and excitement. What a wonderful young lady!

I have great memories of Kerrie that started in kindergarten and went through high school when I moved away to Virginia. I am sorry to have lost touch over the years but remember her humor and warm friendly spirit. We had sleepovers, field trips and many great childhood memories together. I will always remember Kerrie trying to sneak downstairs when Teri and I were listening to records like the Bay City Rollers or riding bikes with us, up and down the driveway for hours at a time.
