Kenneth W. Bonesteel, 74

Center Brunswick - Kenneth W. Bonesteel, 74, of Town Office Road died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center after a 4 year illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Freeman Bonesteel and Florence Keyes Bonesteel and husband for 50 years of Constance Centanni Bonesteel. He had resided in Center Brunswick all his life and was a graduate of the first graduating class of Tamarac High School in 1960.

Ken was the owner and operator of Kenneth W. Bonesteel Printing in Center Brunswick since 1960, which is now operated by his son and daughter.

He was a 61 year member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #537, member Order of Arrow and received the Silver Beaver Award, Daniel Carter Beard Award, served as Asst. Scout Master and known affectionately as "Mr. Summer Camp"; a member of the Apollo Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite, a Past Monarch Iran Grotto #14, Odd Fellows Mountaineer Lodge #321, Pleasant Valley Rebekah Lodge #212, and a former member of Troy Shrine Club. He served as treasurer of the Rensselaer County Auxiliary Police, was a member of the Center Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company for 60 years where he was Fire Police Captain and a member of the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church. Ken was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Operation Deep Freeze 1 and 2 setting up the base in the South Pole.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son - Kenneth W. (Maureen) Bonesteel Jr., Center Brunswick; a daughter, Kimberly (Edward) Maxon, Center Brunswick; a sister, Doris Shaffer, Troy; a brother, Warren C. (Gladys) Bonesteel, Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Desiree and Dustin Maxon and Emily, Joshua and Noah Bonesteel and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William F. Bonesteel.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Sunday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM at the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, Route 7, Center Brunswick with Rev. Arthur Hagy, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Kenneth W. Bonesteel to the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, 990 Hoosick Road Troy, NY 12180 and Center Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company, 1045 Hoosick Road Troy, NY 12180.
