Karen M. Voellm

Poestenkill - Karen M. Voellm, 66, of Snyders Corners Road died Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. Voellm and Carolyn Carner Voellm. She was raised in Poestenkill, resided in Washington, DC from 1974-2012, and moved to Poestenkill in 2012.  She was a graduate of Averill Park High School and Southeastern University in Washington, D.C.with a Bachelor's degree in Management Accounting. 

Karen was an accountant for AARP, auditor/inspector general for Amtrak and Legal Services Corporation, and a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Bain in Washington, DC for 16 years, retiring in 2012.  

She enjoyed several book clubs and was a member of a number of professional associations committed to excellence including the National Realtors Association, Auditors Association, and National System Programmers Association. She also greatly enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricianne Karen Criscione, Poestenkill; a son, Anthony Voellm and Beth Zimmerman, Redmond, WA; three brothers, Frederick R. (Catalina) Voellm, Alexandria, VA, Eric A. (Ranita) Voellm, Coxsackie and Mark J. (Susan) Voellm, Wynantskill; a brother-in-law, Stephen King, Bradford, NH; three grandchildren, Alexis C. Criscione and Lillian E. and Julia H. Voellm and several nieces and nephews she loved dearly.  She was predeceased by her sister, Lynn A King.

A celebration gathering of Karen’s life will be held in the summer for friends and family.  An announcement will be posted on Karen’s Facebook page.
