Justine 'Judy' Hermann Colley

Justine 'Judy' Hermann Colley, 83 Brunswick Justine 'Judy' Hermann Colley, 83, of Grange Road, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital Troy, after a brief illness. Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late William and Dorothea Malke Hermann and wife of the late Earl Spears Colley for 51 years until his passing in November of 2000. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a 1935 graduate of Troy High School and had attended Emma Willard School. She graduated from the State University of New York at Albany earning her BA in 1939, and BS in 1940. She was awarded the Leah Lovenheim Award for English composition at her commencement. Mrs. Colley was employed at Troy High School as a librarian for 39 years. She also taught English and Social Studies. Active in many community events, her focus was always the importance of education and reading and being well-informed and well-versed. She was a member of the Rensselaer County Historical Society, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and its Doubles Club was a favorite of hers. Mrs. Colley was a talented artist, loved to garden and cook, and was a great mom. In her later life she was helped by the Seton Health Program and many thanks go out to Rick Fuller, R.N., and Phyllis Hubrick, her kind care-giver. Survivors include two sons Robert William Colley and wife Clare of Clifton Park and John Earl Colley and Christine Poe of Saratoga Springs; brothers and sister-in-law Tom Davis and Ethel, and Peter Whitney; three grandchildren Benjamin, Meghan and Moira Colley and a nephew and a niece Scott and Nancy Davis. She was predeceased by a sister, Marice Davis. Funeral service private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
