Julia P. (Hannigan) Fitzgerald Snyder

Troy - Julia P. Hannigan Fitzgerald Snyder, 95, formerly of Desson Avenue Troy died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a brief  illness.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late John Hannigan and Honorah Murphy Hannigan and wife of the late Edward A. Fitzgerald, former Mayor of Troy and Joseph Snyder, former Editor of the Record. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy High School and Albany Business College. 

Mrs. Snyder was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the New York State Department of Youth for 15 years, retiring 40 years ago.  

She was a member of Altrusa Club Troy, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.  

Julia made sure life was always enjoyable for everyone else.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Edward Fitzgerald, Barrington, RI; two daughters, Dr. Alannah Fitzgerald, Petersburgh and Sheilah Donovan, Troy; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, John Hannigan and a sister, Catherine Campbell.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 4-7. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in  St. Jean's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Julia P. Snyder to the Wildwood Foundation 2995 Curry Road Extension Schenectady, NY 12303.
