Josephine M. DiMaggio Scarlata, 85

East Greenbush - Josephine M. DiMaggio Scarlata, 85, of Highview Place, East Greenbush, N.Y. died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Julie Blair Rehabilitation Center in Albany after a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was daughter of the late Phillip and Frances Pampinella DiMaggio and wife of the late Salvador Scarlata.

She resided in Albany for many years, on Burden Lake for 25 years, 18 years on Miller's Corners Road in East Greenbush, and with her daughter Susan in East Greenbush for the past 3 years. She was a graduate of Albany High School.

Mrs. Scarlata was a homemaker and an expert cook. Many years ago, she worked at Cluett, Peabody & Company.

She was a member of the Burden Lake Improvement Association and a communicant and a member of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. She was the organist at St. Henry's for a number of years.

She is survived by her children, Steven P. Scarlata (Judith) of Wynantskill, Susan Houser (Gerald) of East Greenbush and Christopher P. Scarlata of Boise, ID; her daughter-in-law, Helen Scarlata of Albany, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a sister, Pauline Kuzmak of Albany, a brother, Salvatore DiMaggio (Betty) of Schenectady and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, a son, Michael A. Scarlata, a grandson, Matthew Scarlata and a brother, Frank DiMaggio.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 8:30 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake and at 9 AM at St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Provost, Pastor. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7 PM. Interment Holy Sepluchre Cemetery in Rensselaer.
