Troy Joseph J. Tashjian Sr. , 93 ,of Thompson Street, Troy died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Musroob John Tashjian Sr. and Sataneg (Patanian) Tashjian. and husband of the late Elaine Guth Tashjian.

He was born in the homestead that he resided in when he died and was a 1930 graduate of Troy High School.

Mr. Tashjian was a school supply salesman for Webster Paper and later Hudson Valley Paper for 25 years retiring in 1978.

He was a very active member, board member and choir member of the Woodside Presbyterian Church in Troy until it closed last year. He was also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Troy many years ago and this past year came back to the First United Presbyterian Church in Troy which was the Second Pres. He was also active in church bowling leagues and other bowling leagues and playing baseball and a member of the Old Timers Golf League at Frear Park. Joe served in France, Germany and Austria in the US Army during World War II in the 11th Armored Division. He maintained the supply lines for the Battle of the Bulge and assisted in freeing the prisoners from the concentration camps.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph J. Tashjian Jr. DVM of Springville, NY, Henry 'Hank' G. Tashjian of Wilsall, MT and Paul J. Tashjian of Clifton Park; two sisters, Elizabeth Tashjian of Troy and Anna Mae Mourachian of Providence, RI; two brothers, Jack S. Tashjian of Troy and M. John Tashjian of Castleton; seven grandchildren, Gordon, Henry, Hans and Eva Tashjian, Tawnya Greenfield, Carly and Benjamin Tashjian; a great grandson, Hunter Greenfield and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, George H. Tashjian Sr. and a sister, Mary Tashjian

Funeral service will be held Friday, at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Dr. James Mosher, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery, in Troy.

A special thanks goes to Joe's brother, John; nephew, George; nieces, Jill and Barbara and grand nephew Arthur for their care.
