Joseph I. O'Brien

November 19, 1922 ~ November 18, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old

New Canaan, CT - Joseph I. O'Brien, 92, of Farm Road died peacefully Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at his home, one day before his 93rd birthday.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Joseph O'Brien and Margaret Borst O'Brien and husband of the late Helen Margaret Bailey O'Brien. He was raised and resided in Troy until 2013, when he moved to New Canaan, Connecticut. He was a 1940 graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business College, Class of 1942. 

Mr. O'Brien was employed at the New York State Assembly as an auditor and served as a Town of Brunswick Councilman and on the Rensselaer County Legislature.  

He was a member of Kiwanis and a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Troy.    

Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Jerry) Parry-Hill, Averill Park, Janet (Dr. James) Aram, Menands, and Nancy (John) Caplan, Old Greenwich, CT; a son, Joseph E. (Mary Ellen) O'Brien, Loudonville; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Caplan, Old Greenwich, CT, Shannon (Fred) Greene, New Milford, CT, James Aram, Boston, Christopher Aram, Orlando, Meghan Parry-Hill, Sarasota, Jeremiah (Tanvi) Parry-Hill, Rochester and Brendan O’Brien, Loudonville and two great grandchildren, Riley and Quinn Greene. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday November 22, 2015  from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Gorchov, Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, officiating.

Interment will be in  Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
