Joseph C. Nold Sr.

Troy- Joseph C. Nold Sr., died peacefully at Samaritan Hospital on Friday, October 17, 2008 after a brief illness.

Born in Troy he was the only child of the late Charles F. and Anna Conroy Nold. He attended St. Lawrence School in Troy and was a 1938 graduate of La Salle Institute. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Nold was employed at Norton Company in Watervliet retiring in 1983.

He was an active member of the Troy Lodge of Elks and former Elk of the Year, a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and loved being an East Side Senior. He especially enjoyed all his East Side Senior friends and coordinating all of their wonderful trips and Troy Elks Boccie League.

Joe loved spending time with his family enjoying his yard. He had an amazing zest for life. He loved, lived and truly enjoyed each day. He will always be remembered for his bright smile, contagious laughter and his gentle and compassionate love for others.

Joe is survived by his cherished wife, Helen C. Liney Nold and his 4 devoted and loving children, Charles (Linda) Nold, Barbara (David) Bonesteel, Rita (Timothy) Reilly and Joseph Nold Jr. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Charles and Brennan Nold, Margie Pasinella, Helen Driessen, Erica Bonesteel and Donald and Aliza Reilly and 3 great grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha and Halee. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Leslie Loiselle.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-8PM. Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
