Joseph R. Millington, 74

Averill Park Joseph R. Millington, 74, of Harvey Way, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.

Born in South Troy, he was son of the late William and Emma Mead Millington and husband of the late Shirley A. Nichols Millington. They had celebrated there 50th wedding anniversary just prior to his wife's death in 2001. He had resided in Troy, Watervliet and Averill Park areas all his life and attended La Salle Institute and graduated from Watervliet High School.

Mr. Millington was a carpet designer for Lektro Kleen and later American Flooring Specialists Inc. in Colonie from which he retired in December of 2002 after over 45 years.

He was a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks, the Knights of Columbus, East Side Seniors and a lifetime member of the Mountainview Fire Company. He was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Cingranelli (Richard) of Latham; a daughter-in-law, Mary Karen Millington of Colonie; a sister, Joan Casey (John) of Seattle, WA; a brother-in-law James Nichols (Dorothy) of Averill Park; a grandson; several granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael W. Millington; a brother Francis Millington and three sisters Adrian Tuffy, Regina Millington and Margaret Rowland.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 8:45am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
